The XRP Ledger, which underpins cross-border payment juggernaut Ripple, has closed its 50-millionth ledger, which marks a major milestone for the third-biggest cryptocurrency.
The news was brought to light by Nik Bougalis, the software engineer who spearheads the company’s C++ team.

As reported by U.Today, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse highlighted the transaction speed of XRP, which makes it scalable enough to serve as a means of payment. It can “consistently handle” 1,500 transactions per second.
However, given that a large amount of is the XRP supply controlled by Ripple bosses, it raises significant centralization concerns.
